Specifically Baby Powder. There are three main TOXIC issues with baby powder. They are:
- Synthetic Fragrance’s – full of phthalates which disrupt your endocrine system.
- Corn Starch – So many of our fields are GMO crops and are sprayed with glyphosate.
- Talc – This is a long one to expound on and explain it, you don’t really have to dig very far. I looked no further than the American Cancer Society and even they say that talc can cause cancer. There have been many lawsuits over talcum baby powder and yet it is still sold on countless shelves across the country.
The American Cancer Society has this to say about Talc:
“Talc is mined from the earth. In this natural form, some talc contains asbestos, a
substance known to cause cancers in and around the lungs when inhaled.”
and
“It has been suggested that talcum powder might cause cancer in the ovaries
if the powder particles (applied to the genital area or on sanitary napkins, diaphragms, or
condoms) were to travel through the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes to the ovaries.
Many studies in women have looked at the possible link between talcum powder and
ovarian cancer. Findings have been mixed, with some studies reporting a slightly
increased risk and some reporting no increase.”
That’s enough for me to either know how the talc is sourced and that it is clean and asbestos free, or to use a product without the ingredient at all.
